Phlegm Chilopoda

He couldn’t cough it up. It was like something sharp was caught in his throat. He’d had this cough for weeks… and it got worse and worse. He felt himself gagging and choking; it felt like something with legs was now trying to make its way out of his throat. It scratched and clawed with its many legs, trying to force its way at his throat but didn’t come up from his throat. He coughed and coughed, he was on his knees gagging, he could bring nothing up. He was practically purging himself, choking to death. His fingers were jammed down his throat, he could feel slimy wetness and he tried to pull and pull but lost his grip and fell to his hands and knees, vomiting, but the thing clung to his throat… tearing at his flesh. His breath came in dry heaves… and his eyes closed. He started to feel the blackness overtake him. The next morning his carcass lay on the ground, a hole chewed through his throat. The thing crawled and crawled, spewing from the hole, long, with millions and millions of legs. Longer than a centipede it crawled and crawled; it dripped with mucus and trailed its slime across the floor…

The next morning the girl woke up with a slight cough, tickling her throat.

She must be coming down with a cold…
