Duplicitous Creatures
The Woonnaweyee were of such infinite variety, I wondered they could distinguish their own kind, although perhaps they appeared more distinct to each other. I suspect their acceptance of me was a product of their multiplicity.
I named them after the only sound I’d heard them make: a bird-like cooing distinguished by its near inaudible pitch and accompanied by subtle variations in tone, to the colors that surrounded them, and fleetingly for me, defined their shapes.
I practiced their calls so that they called back. They were gentle, curious creatures. All the more pity that I had to eliminate them but we humans abhor diversity and a job is a job.

Started off so sweet. Ended cruelly. Good flash. Will look at Ring Collared Doves differently from now on.
