NEWS: February 10, 2009: What Are Your Favorite MicroHorror Stories?
Evening, kiddies! I’ve got a little crowd-sourcing job for you all, if you’d care to help me out. All I want to know is this: What are your favorite stories out of the 1300+ in the MicroHorror library? Call it an informal community poll. Just post your picks in the comments here, and name as many or as few as you’d like. If you want to keep your opinion secret for any reason, just send me an e-mail. It’s all good. Thanks very much, and I look forward to hearing your picks!
“Tin Secrets” by Paula Ray stands out for me.

I have many favorites from MH, but these are the ones
that come to mind when I think about what makes
MicroHorror special:
The Frost Lady, by Oonah V. Joslin
Decibels, by Chris Reed
Peaceful, by Tonia Brown
On this Night, by Sanford Allen

Quite a while back (around the time I had my first story posted on Microhorror) I read a story that I absolutely loved about a woman turning in her serial killer neighbor to police… because he wouldn’t involve her in his crimes or even take her into his confidence. Turned out that was all she wanted; to be involved in something ‘meaningful’. I thought it was very, very well written but don’t remember the title or author. Anyone remember that one? I would have written my all-time favorites down if I’d known there was going to be a quiz Nathan!

I would like to register my vote for the stories of the late great Thomas Wiloch.
They’re short, sweet and dripping with the most venomous kind of black humor. He was
a major talent.

Oh, damn, Sanford. I didn’t know Thomas Wiloch had passed away. What a way to find out. But I agree wholeheartedly that he was a marvelous writer, and I’m honored that he contributed his stories to my site.

Wow…you know when I read you were looking for fan favorites, I immediately thought of “Good Samaritan” by Thomas Wiloch. I’m very saddened by the news of his passing. His work was awe-inspiring.

I learned about Thomas’ passing on Thomas Ligotti’s blog. Ligotti wrote a heartfelt and facinating
tribute, which you can read here: http://www.ligotti.net/showthread.php?t=1991 .

I tend to like the one paragraph stories best, plus some of the others:
“I’m Literally Bored to Death Over Here!” by Sean Ryan
“Dead Hooker Blues” by Dustin LaValley
“Nowhere to Hide” by Nick Allen
“The Hermit” by Trinity Martin
“What You Eat” by Jeff Ryan

My favorite recent story on this site is ‘Right Wrist’ by Lorella Mascot. It really creeped me out for several days!
