We haven’t quite reached the middle of October, but I’m already seeing some great entries in the 2008 Story Contest. If you haven’t been keeping up with the competition, read the entries so far! The rules, as usual, are right here.

That said, I think it’s the right time to announce the nature of the prizes for this year. Three writers will have their creatures illustrated by internationally renowned artist Sarah Clarke! Sarah is a dear friend of mine, best known for her Harry Potter fan art. Last year, she was commissioned by Borders Books to create promotional art for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and now, she might illustrate your own story! After tense negotiations, she has agreed to create illustrations for the three winning creature stories, and the images will accompany the stories here. The original art will be mailed to the writers.
