The 2010 Story Contest Begins… Now!

What, pray tell, is this? Could it be… a video?

So there you have it. Oonah V Joslin and I have joined forces and decreed this year’s theme to be SPACEnot outer space, but the space between things. Consider the absences in the world, the lacunae, the gaps. Perhaps terror lurks in a surprisingly small space, or a space that turns out not to be the size you thought it was. Claustrophobia and agoraphobia are both common fears, after all. But space is defined by its borders, and is therefore finite, so we’re enforcing a limit of 500 words for your stories.

Read the complete rules here. All entries, as usual, must be received before the end of October, and there will indeed be prizes. And to make things a little easier on me, please specify that a story is a contest entry when you submit it.

So best of luck to all of you. Stretch your brains to find something scary for us… but maybe not too far. You don’t know what you’ll bump into.

  1. I’ve been waiting for this! So glad to see the contest open, and you couldn’t ask for a better judge! I put a link to this post up on my site (hope that’s cool) and I’m going to start working on something right away.

  3. What a fun idea guys. I was a Judge w/the lovely Oonah a while back so it is great to put a face to all our hard work done together. I may just try out your contest, that is, I will have to write something and pronto.
So where would I send the story and any chance you would publish one of Oonah’s wins. I’d love to read it.

  5. GO GUYS!

It is amazing to see you there, Surface, with THE MAN!

Nathan, you are is serious danger of blowing your cover, man. You will have to dismember somebody on screen before we all guess you are actually a really nice guy and all this Horror stuff is just a facade.

But, to help you out and I am going to write a piece for the competition that will have people bleeding from the nose and ears.

It is the very least I can do
